A first-class train across Germany and a week in Berlin. Ich Liebe Deutschland!
Our first stopover of the trip, we spent one day hanging in Cologne to get into the swing of things. To be honest, it was a pretty cushioned slide into the backpacking mentality, with a pretty sweet first-class train ride and a cabin all to ourselves. Have a feeling we won't be so comfortable in a few months!
Berlin was awesome to hang out in for a week with friends who live there, to really get a sense of the lifestyle; definitely one for artists and students, and definitely poor but sexy! Spent days walking the city, re-learning our history lessons and of course partying in the city where anything that looks like an abandoned warehouse must be a super trendy nightclub. A random night our with cheesy mainstream music contrasted with the most serious of German Techno and throw in a splash of fifties swing gave us a pretty good taste of the randomness of the city. Absolutely loved it.
Emma even found the time to sneak in a little return trip after a few days in Poland and get inked - funnily enough, by a tattooist based in Krakow. Not that she needed an excuse to return - the city is so jam-packed of interesting things to do. We'll definitely have to make it back one day.
