Its the largest country in the world, so we thought Russia was pretty deserving of a few pages all to itself. Whilst a lot of out time in this vast county was spent watching the landscape blur past on buses and trains, we sill manages to fit a whole lot of sights in along the way. Cross border from Georgia at Kazbegi. Get dropped off at Vladikavkaz (Владикавка́з) by friendly bus of Armenians. Jump on overnight bus to Volgograd (Волгогра́д) |
Day 2 |
Arrive in Volgograd in afternoon, get but to ‘The Motherland Calls’ statue. Overnight train to Moscow (Москва́) |

Arrive in Moscow around 10am, food and wandering the streets. |

Moscow sightseeing - Red Square and Kremlin Museums. |

Moscow sightseeing, Vystavka Dostizheniy Narodnogo Khozyaystva (VDNKh) and Memorial Museum of Cosmonautics (Space Museum) |

Jump on an organised tour of the island to explore further north. Sights include Peschanka Bay, The three brothers cape, Khoboy cape, Cape of Love, and a weather station at Uzury. |
Day 13 |
7 hour bus ride back to Irkutsk. Back on the train in the evening for 36 hour journey to Mongolia. |
